It’s time to Get SMART!

For the current school year, the district is able to spend less than $13 per student for new technology that makes learning more engaging and memorable.  With your help, our children can become even more confident in their knowledge and capabilities as they prepare for the grades ahead of them. Over the past 16 years, the Wilton Education Foundation has worked with you to raise and contribute more than $400,000 to our schools for initiatives in technology, science, arts and professional development. This year the Foundation is leading the charge to raise and invest $50,000 in SMART technologies and staff development, to energize the Wilton school system curriculum for our children.

SMART Technology
Researchers have reported that students are more engaged in classrooms with SMART interactive whiteboards. This technology helps invigorate the course of studies and motivate learners.  Students themselves say that the lessons were more interesting because of the interactive whiteboards. “When my (math) teacher puts up graphs on a SMART board it helps me learn visually and it is easier to grasp the lesson,” Wilton High School Sophomore.

Summer Institute
For the 6th consecutive year, the Foundation will sponsor individual teachers so they can participate in specialized training opportunities at leading educational institutions such as Columbia University, Amherst College and the University of Michigan.  The teachers are then able to bring their new learning into the classroom to benefit all of our Wilton students.
