SUMMER INSTITUTE
This past summer, the Wilton Education Foundation funded 24 teachers to participate in advanced placement training at Columbia University, Amherst College, the University of Michigan, Taft and other distinguished institutions. All of them are bringing their newfound expertise and experiences back into our Wilton classrooms this school year to the benefit of our children.
Suzanne Steadham, Wilton High School, Science Teacher
Attended: AP Biology Workshop, The Taft School
"Biology is a field undergoing rapid advancement. I could not be more pleased with the Summer Institute I attended. I came back to school ready to implement new techniques I had learned in DNA gel electrophoresis and genetics."
John Priest, Middlebrook, Sixth-grade Social Studies Teacher
Attended: UCONN CONFRATUTE Institute for gifted and talented education
I cannot articulate how important professional development like this is to teachers interested in differentiated instruction, teaching 21st century skills and approaching education in a child-centered, progressive way."
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to send more teachers through the Summer Institute for Professional Development in 2010. Help our teachers help our children.
